Senior Consultant, Career Transition
Mary brings 20 years of experience in a manufacturing environment for an international corn sweetener company. She has held positions in marketing, international, corporate finance, human resources, public relations, and benefits.
When the company exercised a reduction in force, Mary joined the career transition team and helped to establish an on-site career center. She was an essential staff advisor who consulted with individuals to aid in their successful transition to new opportunities.
An MRG employee since 1995, Mary has assisted individuals throughout their career transition programs, offering practical advice on the emotions of a job change, assessments, effective resumes and cover letters, job search strategies, social media, interviewing, and negotiating job offers. Mary has worked with individuals from a variety of career fields and disciplines, in workshop settings and in individual career consulting sessions. In 2006, Mary earned her Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR) and she is also certified as a New Horizons Retirement Specialist.
Mary is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Locally, she served as the Board Secretary for the Iowa SHRM State Council from 2008-2010. In 2009 she was Registration Co-Chair for the Iowa SHRM State Conference and she was Facilities co-chair for the 2011 conference. Mary also serves as the Chapter Management Professional for the Great River Human Resource Association (GRHRA), SHRM's local affiliate chapter. Mary has an associates degree in business administration and has completed several hours towards her Bachelor's in Business Administration. She has attended numerous career management and leadership conferences and is well-versed in a variety of software programs.
Before moving to the Quad Cities in 1994, Mary served as president of the Library Board in Mt. Zion, Illinois. She also presented self-esteem, drug, and alcohol awareness programs to elementary students and facilitated various retreats in the Springfield, Illinois area for more than 20 years. Since moving to the Quad Cities, Mary has been involved in United Way, her local church, and has also established her own independent resume writing business. In 2011 she was invited to serve on the Board of Trusteess for the Life & Family Educational Trust in the Quad Cities.
