Welcome Josselyn!

Some things are changing at MRG, Lauri Flanagan moved into the President’s role and we have added a new team member, Josselyn Smith. Josselyn is the new Administrative Assistant for the Prairie Building and is important to MRG’s overall operations.

In order to get to know Josselyn better, we asked her to answer a few questions.

Tell us about your family: I live with my hubby, John and together we have two sons; Bryan (23) and Logan (18).

Hobbies: Anything adventurous! I love hiking, kayaking, silo ice climbing. Top of the list is TRAVEL! I don’t typically go back to a place I’ve been before unless there is a very good reason. There are too many places to go and not enough time (certainly no money tree in the backyard either!)

Favorite food: Ooooh, that’s a hard one. I’d have to go with anything Thai, specifically, Gra-Pow.

Biggest pet peeve: People who judge before they’ve even said a word to someone! I have no tolerance for intolerance.

What do you hope to learn at MRG: My desire is to grow in my ability to guide others to achieve their goals.

Outside of MRG, what organizations are you involved in: I am a charter member of the River Valley Optimist Club, on the board of directors of the Quad Cities Women’s club, an outdoor group, and also on the board of directors for the Scott Community College Foundation. I volunteer every year with “A Night to Shine”, a prom night experience for people with special needs.

Favorite cities you have lived in and why: That’s also hard because, when you’ve moved 17 times in almost 30 years, there are a lot of great places! Living in Germany is the top of the list however because of the cultural experience and the ease of travel from country to country. Stateside, WA state. Gorgeous and all things outdoor…water, mountains, flatlands. And lastly Le Claire ;) We decided to make that our final stopping point so we must love it!

Advice you would give to people who move to new places: NO-one is going to come and knock on your door to get you out and about. The responsibility is on you to plug in. Find a group to get involved in that interests you (community, sport, music, etc). Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!!

Welcome to the team, Josselyn!
